Before wristwatches became popular after WWI,pocket watches were used with the watch attached to a chain and secured to a waistcoat, lapel or belt loop to prevent the watch from being dropped. Often "watch fobs" were added to the end of the chain as an ornament. Fobs signified membership in a club, and were awards of merit, while others were purely decorative. Today, the Fob has been recreated into a beautiful pendant necklace.
